Hello, gentlefolk.
I come today with a special announcement. If you have a CD with fanfare music, whooping crowds, or the sound of people armed with pitchforks & lighted torches, marching on a lonely castle atop a craggy hill, now is not the time to play it. Just grab a cup of tea, sit down, and read. Ta.
Time was, I would travel from open mic night to open mic night, armed only with my guitar, a handful of CDs I'd made in my flat, and a sturdy sense of humour. The CDs used to sell quite well, as I recall. One or two a night was, for me, "quite well", at the very least. Well worth all the hours spent sitting up until half one in the morning, printing out inlays and cutting them into shape with a small guillotine (I often wished for a tiny crowd of French peasants, cheering me on as I worked, but that may have just been tiredness).
I stopped musicking for a wee while, although some songs were written and recorded in the three years I wasn't gigging or 'selling myself', and since I've come back to music, the songs just haven't stopped writing themselves. What this has resulted in is me asking everyone to "bear with me!", "keep your eyes peeled!" or, in my more desperate hours, "don't leave me!" while I get myself together.
No more. You deserve a bit better than that, really, don't you?
I present to you two EPs, entitled "You've Been Lovely, Volumes 1 & 2". They are a thankyou for being so supportive as I attempt to flaunt myself to thems that'll listen to me, and might hopefully like my music. They are also a sort of catch-up, to bring you up to speed on what I've been doing since 2003. The songs on here span recordings made in 2003/2004, from a CD I made called "You Don't Care So Why Should I?", through to "Win Your Name In Lights" (2006), through to recordings made in the hope of forming a demo that never got made. All these songs are songs I really loved making, but alas don't fit in quite so much to things I'm doing now. That's not to say they won't one day, but for now, this is their home.
